I decided that I'll do these paintings using gouache as it is much easier to handle and clean than oil or acrylic colors. Also a former art teacher suggested to me that if I wanted to learn more about painting I need to paint a couple of pictures using larger brushes.
Well, after the first painting I can already state that I almost regret my decision to use gouache and large bristle brushes. I wanted to focus on values, but gouache fools you, drying about at least one value step lighter than it looks like when being wet. I really do want to get back to oils.
Those large brushes aren't any better and keep annoying me, too. I cannot get any detail right with them.
